ELMO, the first company in the world to offer a car sharing service with remote-controlled cars, is showcasing its developed technology to potential clients in Germany and Austria during a tour that began yesterday.

Last year ELMO received permission from the Transport Authority to drive remote-controlled cars on Estonian streets and roads. Also, they showcased technology in Paris, Toulouse, Berlin, Munich, Los Angeles and Helsinki at the top startup event of the year, Slush.

From January 24th to February 15th, potential clients will be met in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Hannover, Salzburg, and other cities in Germany and Austria that have previously seen the technology or have shown interest in it.

“Last year, ELMO’s remote-controlled car was a hit at various trade shows, and the interest from foreign media to support sales has been very high. Since we are already providing services with the cars on public roads, this is a good moment to make the first sales agreements,” said Enn Laansoo Jr, founder and CEO of ELMO. “Our goal is to make at least two sales agreements for the use of technology in foreign markets by the end of February,” added Laansoo.

During meetings with local authorities in Germany and Austria, the rules for bringing remote-controlled cars onto the streets will also be discussed. In addition to showcasing the technology for sales purposes, pre-marketing will be done for the next funding round starting in the spring, and tests will be conducted simultaneously in various mobile networks and locations. “Testing the technology in different environments gives us valuable experience for necessary development and is also a prerequisite for certification in various foreign countries,” added Laansoo.
